The most beloved of people to Allah are those that are most beneficial to people.
-Hadith Sahih al-Jami’
The Islamic Chaplaincy of NJ operates a dedicated Prison and Hospital Ministry program, offering spiritual and emotional support to incarcerated individuals and Muslim patients. Our chaplains and volunteers are designated to various prisons and hospitals where they lead prayers, provide religious instruction, and offer grief coaching and spiritual support to patients and their families. Reflecting the Quranic guidance, “And We have certainly honored the children of Adam” (Quran 17:70), we are committed to honoring and uplifting the dignity of every individual.
Personal Testimonial
Abdul Wajid greatly benefited from various programs conducted in jails by the Islamic Chaplaincy of New Jersey. He graduated from the Tarbiya program, making him eligible for reentry support.
Islamic Chaplaincy believes that providing spiritual care in prisons and hospitals is an essential expression of our faith. By organizing educational and recreational events for inmates and their families, and working with them both before and after release, we facilitate a positive transition into society and reduce recidivism. This effort embodies the hadith, “None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves for himself” (Hadith). Our mission in this area is to ensure that every individual, regardless of their circumstances, receives the spiritual and emotional support they need to find hope, purpose, and a path to a better future.
